Seams I hate. It seems. And other thoughts....

I'm sewing up a little sweater I knit for our friends' daughter, Josephine. After an hour of trial and error and a few online tutorials, it took me another hour to sew up the shoulder seams. Last night I spent a third hour sewing in one sleeve. One. The sleeve seems to be bigger than the armhole of the sweater so there was a lot of positioning, pinning, re-positioning, re-pinning, and guessing. It's not perfect, but I think it's my best looking sleeve seam yet. There's relief and satisfaction when it comes out looking okay, or even good, but I still maintain that seaming is my least favorite part of knitting. Hopefully after the fourth hour of seaming, the second sleeve will look similar to the first sleeve!

Toddlers and eye exams don't mix. FiG got her eyes dilated this morning....after a technician, a resident, and a doctor couldn't complete her eye exam, we swaddled her tightly, numbed her eyeballs, and in two minutes the exam was over. It's bizarre seeing your kid's eye held open with a springy metal speculum. And having had LASIK, I know it feels bizarre. Her vision is normal so we don't have to do that until preschool screening in a year. Whew.

There are at least 150 bulbs in our gardens. We have three tulips and one daffodil blooming, as of this morning.

FiG eats mushrooms now. And grapes. Gimme some grapes!
